Three sides finish with 6 wins + Draw
It was only shot differential that separated the top three teams, but in the end it was the Scott Walker led side that stormed home to win the inaugural 4-week Foundation Planning South Perth Pre-Season Triples competition. They produced two big wins, 16-4 over Hawkes, and 19-5 over Miles, to win overall by the slimmest of margins.
The final night produced plenty of close matches, and some surprise results. Matt Mitchell‘s side was undefeated after 3 nights, but lost the final two games – both by 1 shot. Blake Nairn came into the final night sitting 2nd, but his team also lost both games. Kristina Krstic failed to secure maximum points in the first game, drawing with Darryl Radford, but then went on to win the crucial last game encounter versus Nairn to secure second spot.
Well done to Mark Masel’s Mt Lawley side that finished third. They went into the final night sitting 4th, but unfortunately two of their regular players couldn’t play – Stephen Connell and Laurie Kelly. Mark Masel stepped in and skipped for Kelly, and Tarquin Mcelveney subbed for Connell. They drew the first game against Miles Kemp and then produced a mammoth win in the last, defeating Warwick Neville‘s side 26-4.
Congratulations also to the 4th and 5th placed winners. 4th place went to the Ryan Brown side, skippered by Kyle McIlroy. They had a slow start to the comp, but finished strongly – winning their last 4 games.
I doubt many would have foreseen two losses for Matty Mitchell’s team on the final night given they were so dominant after 3 weeks, but they still managed to finish 5th and gain some $$$.
